Below is a set of suggestions for you to consider; some items may not apply depending on the type of shoot (Commercial vs. Portfolio; Casual vs. Lingerie). The intent is to do what we can to capture you at your very best!

No less than a week before the shoot (to allow irritation to subside):
  • If you wax, wax your brows and other areas otherwise pluck your brows.
  • If you color or highlight your hair, plan to do it at least a week before the shoot.
  • If you have dark hair on your arms or face, it should be bleached or waxed.
On the day of the shoot:
  • Get a good night's rest
  • Manicure toenails and fingernails short and rounded; no french manicures.
  • If you are using the services of our makeup artist and/or hair stylist, do not wear any makeup to the shoot. Bring a fresh clean face which will allow our makeup artist to present you at your best with each outfit. Expect to have two or three makeup changes during the shoot. If you will be using our hair stylist, wash and dry your hair prior to the shoot, but do not use hair spray, moose, gel or other products in your hair. Don't over condition your hair.  If we will not be supplying a makeup artist, please bring makeup, hair, and body products with you to the shoot so you can touch-up and/or change out.
  • Women bring skirts, pants, dresses, dark denim, sweaters, blouses, shirts (a button down shirt can be fun), tanks, lingerie, swimsuit , suit, hats, and outerwear based on what we determined at our planning meeting.
  • Women, don’t forget lingerie to go with each outfit. Bring in black, beige and white. Bras should be seamless with a smooth front; no lace. Bring a strapless bra and thong in a neutral tone; watch for lingerie that is visible through your outer wear. You can bring in colored hose or tights. Fun stockings if you’re doing something with an edge.
  • Men bring a mix of pants, some dark denim, cargo shorts, shirts, tees, tanks, sweaters, outerwear, and a shirt, tie, and suit based on what we determined at our planning meeting.
  • Choose clothes that fit you well, nothing that may bag or sag.  Watch for clothing that tends to gap in typical poses.  Shoes should be appropriate for the attire. Suits should be a modern cut and fit great through shoulders and sleeve length.
  • If you 'have nothing to wear', look through current fashion magazines for styling ideas that work with your body structure.  Models have been known to shop the day before the shoot, shoot, then return the articles of clothing after the shoot.
  • Bring in a mix of color and basic black and creme separates. Solids work well.
  • Textured outfits, such as knit tops and sweaters, add a nice dimension.  We will use special lighting to emphasize them.
  • Choose separates that will go with several combinations.  Avoid strong patterns that might cause the viewer to focus on your outfit instead of you.
  • Hats, scarves, jewelry, purses are great props to work with.  Bring things to hold; images look better when the hands are occupied.
  • Bring a sturdy pair of sneakers or other shoes for location walking.
  • Layout your clothing selection at home before you leave for the shoot and visualize everything you need for each change out so you can identify what's missing and/or come up with additional accessories that go well together.
